Why ‘The Pioneer Woman’ Is Ditching Her Signature Hair Color

In addition to her tasty recipes and colorful cookware, The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond is known for her bright red hair—for now, that is. Because evidently, the Food Network plans to ditch her signature hair color.

On Jan. 25, Drummond, 55, took to Instagram to give her followers a behind-the-scenes look at her long-term hair plan.

"You’re about to see way more of my scalp than you probably would like," the cookbook author warned before poking fun at herself a bit more. "I was going to narrate this video but I’m too old and impatient. Then I was going to put captions on this video but I’m too old and impatient. (This is precisely why I had split ends and overgrown roots. I’m old and impatient!)"

Drummond explained that she is "trying to go darker and darker and less orange every time" she goes to the salon.

"Soon I’ll post about how I got my once broken-off hair to finally grow over the past three years and got rid of my extensions," she teased. "Okay bye—sorry I showed you my scalp. (And thank you AMBER!! ❤️❤️❤️ )"

In the comments, Drummond's followers shared their opinions of her hair switch-up.

One Instagram user wrote, "LOVE the darker red!" while another declared, "The darker color is very flattering on you!"

Someone else commented, "I like the auburn on you! I remember in the earlier shows, you had a darker auburn color as opposed to the orangey red. Much more flattering on you, and it really brings out your lovely eyes and looks great with your complexion. 👏🏻"

Meanwhile, another ginger wrote, "As a fellow redhead, I LOVE this rich shade on you, Ree! 😍👏🏻♥️"
