Why Khloé Kardashian Didn’t Tell Even Her Closest Friends and Family About Baby #2 With Tristan Thompson
Khloé Kardashian’s news that she and on-off ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson are expecting their second child together imminently via surrogate came as a surprise to the internet yesterday—and some of Kardashian’s closest friends and family, who weren’t told about the pregnancy either.
E! reports that Kardashian’s hand was forced to speak up when the story came out. TMZ broke the news of Kardashian and Thompson expecting their second child yesterday. Kardashian released a statement through her rep confirming it.
“Khloé kept the pregnancy a secret to protect surrogate privacy and safety, and to protect her mental health from judgement from the public as a result of Tristan’s actions,” the source said. Thompson and Kardashian ended their romantic relationship for good in December after she learned that he secretly fathered a child with another woman while they were dating.
“Khloé’s hand was forced to confirm the pregnancy before she was ready to announce,” E!’s source explained, noting that Kardashian issued the statement “even before she had the opportunity to personally tell her closest family and friends,” who learned of the news the same way the public did: online.
More details have surfaced since Kardashian’s rep confirmed the news and established that the baby’s conception happened before Kardashian learned of Thompson’s paternity scandal.
The rep said yesterday, “We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November. Khloé is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We’d like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family.”
Page Six has since reported that Kardashian and Thompson are having a baby boy, per multiple sources. “Khloé has always wanted a little brother for True and decided to go ahead with having the baby with the support of her family,” a source said.
A source close to the situation additionally told E! that nothing romantic is going on between Thompson and Kardashian. “Khloé and Tristan are not back together and have not spoken since December outside of co-parenting matters,” the source said. “The baby was conceived via surrogate before it was revealed to Khloé and the public that Tristan was having a baby with someone else in December. ”
A source doubled down on that information to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “The two aren’t together and Khloé will have the baby full time. Khloé wants Tristian in both the kids’ lives as much as he wants to be.”
Neither Kardashian nor Thompson have addressed the news on social media.
