Why Kelly Ripa Was Missing From 'Live' Today

Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa was noticeably absent during the Nov. 29 episode of Live, which may have concerned some viewers. But fear not, as her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos offered a little insight into why she was missing from the broadcast and had the show's announcer–Déjà Vu Parker–filling in for her.

"Yesterday, you could tell [Kelly] was losing her voice a little bit," Consuelos said. "It's gone, it's lost."

In response to Parker's inquiry into the status of the 53-year-old's health, her husband of 27 years confirmed that she's doing okay: "Yeah, she's gonna feel better. She's just resting a little bit."

Parker later asked, "What do you do when Kelly gets sick?" to which Consuelos, 52, replied, "Uh, I go to the basement!"

Joking that he was "quarantining" from his wife so as not to "get the laryngitis," Consuelos assured fans that he's hopeful Ripa will "feel better soon" and be back to join him on the fan-favorite ABC morning talk show.

While the two previously opened up about the challenges of working with your spouse, avoiding sharing germs and getting each other sick was not one of the issues mentioned.

Instead, the celebrity couple-turned-co-hosts suggested the difficulties of working the same job had more to do with "somebody not being around to let the dogs out in the morning."

All in all, though, the pair agreed that there are more positives to working together than negatives.

"I always know I have somebody next to me that, even when I mess up, will always lift me up and move on and reassure me that it's fine," Consuelos sweetly added.

Along with their job, the couple share three now-adult childrenMichael, 26, Lola, 22 and Joaquin, 20.

We hope you feel better soon, Kelly!
