Why this Grammy winner's show at the Peoria Civic Center was postponed

Monica attends the Roc Nation pre-Grammy brunch at One World Trade Center on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, in New York.

The Monica concert scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Peoria Civic Center Arena has been postponed.

In a Friday Facebook post, the Civic Center cited "illness and Monica being unable to perform" as the reasons for the delay.

"We are working to reschedule the show to a new date and will inform purchasers at that time," the post added. "Please reach out to customerservice@peoriaciviccenter.com with any questions."

The show was to feature the Grammy Award-winning singer Monica, with special guest Case and support from Sweet Diezel Jenkins.

Monica has sold more than 20 million records worldwide since releasing her debut album, "Miss Thang," as a teenager. That album yielded the hit singles “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)” and “Before You Walk Out of My Life,” making her the youngest female ever to have two consecutive No. 1 hits on Billboard's R&B chart.
