Trinity Metro is the public transportation service in Tarrant County offering several transit options for riders to choose from, including the train systems TEXRail and Trinity Railway Express.

One Star-Telegram reader submitted a news tip about the Fort Worth Central Station’s lobby hours and why the building is not open 24 hours daily.

Here’s a look at when the Fort Worth Central Station is open and why.

The Fort Worth Central Station lobby is open between 6 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The station is located at 1001 Jones St. in downtown Fort Worth.

Laura Hanna, Trinity Metro director of communications, said there are no specific wait limits for people conducting business in the station such as buying tickets, using the vending machines or getting food at the Subway restaurant inside.

Ticketed passengers for Greyhound and Amtrak can wait on the benches in the lobby until their train or bus is ready to board. There are designated bus bays where Trinity Metro passengers can wait. TEXRail and TRE passengers have their platforms.

Lobby hours do not coincide with some Trinity Metro routes — TEXRail has trains that stop at Fort Worth Central Station as early as 5 a.m. and as late as 11:30 p.m.

Hanna said Fort Worth Central Station’s lobby hours are tied to kiosk sales and service hours of other businesses inside. As of January, there are no plans to extend the lobby’s hours.
