Why Carhartt's Chore Coat Is the Only Viral TikTok Trend Worth Shopping This Fall

As we're all anticipating fall weather, a coat is going absolutely viral on TikTok right now. It's not from any new line though, it's the 100-year-old Carhartt Chore Coat.

Typically worn by farmers, ranchers, and construction workers, hence the name "Chore Coat," these jackets have been around since the late nineteenth century. However, today's standards have changed that a bit.

For example, designer Veronica Beard was recently seen sporting an acid-washed vintage Carhartt jacket in a TikTok and the crowd went wild. Despite talking about her brand's new pre-fall line, everyone in the comments was more interested in the coat she was wearing.

Although a unique vintage piece, VB got her jacket from designer Christina "Mo" Vázquez Mauricio. She's the founder and owner of Gold Coast Dyes, a design studio that specializes in colorful loungewear, accessories, and vintage Carhartt, of course.

Mo sources pre-worn jackets and goes through a design process to give them an acid-wash look. The two designers met at shop on Long Island one day and VB walked out the door with a few of Mo's pieces in tow. Talk about a meet cute!

While Carhartt has hit quite the stride recently, the brand's bestselling coat has been around for more than 100 years. The company started with overalls and coats for the everyday worker. But in in recent years, consumers have gone from those working manual labor, to luxury fashion lovers. Even Louis Vuitton featured chore jackets down the runway at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. And while plenty of folks are still bailing hay and mucking stalls in them, they're going to be a big trend for literally everyone this year.

Most of the reworked chore jackets on goldcoastdyes.com are sold out at the moment. However, Mo announced there will be a new drop of the coveted Carhartts in late September/early October. Perfect timing for those chilly temps!
