Why Candis Cayne Distanced Herself From Caitlyn Jenner

Years after many saw Candis Cayne and Caitlyn Jenner's close friendship play out on the reality TV series I Am Cait, the actress revealed what exactly led her to step back from her friendship with Jenner.

"We just don't really talk anymore," said Cayne in a new interview with The Messenger, before sharing what the breaking point was. "I can't separate my friendship with her and her belief system anymore."

Bluntly calling Jenner "a cult member, a Fox News cult member," Cayne noted that she, along with a few other women, attempted to "show [Jenner] the light, and how important our cause was, and the only way you can get that is if you lean left."

In contrast to Cayne, Jenner is known for leaning quite Republican and having some controversial views. In 2021, when she ran for governor of California, she told TMZ in an interview, "I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school. It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools."

She also voiced support for Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign recently, a stark difference from her statements against him in 2018, with Jenner writing an opinion piece for The Washington Post condemning his actions.

Cayne lamented the loss of friendship, telling The Messenger, "It's sad. because I've had so many fun times and experiences with her." But she seemed to still hope for the best for Jenner, saying, "I wish she would see the light. I just don't want to spend time with anybody that can't understand the other side."

These days, Cayne hosts her own show called Candis Cayne's Secret Garden, while Jenner joined Fox News as an on-air contributor in 2022. She remains quite outspoken about her beliefs during appearances and on social media.
