Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Aren’t at the 2024 Oscars
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have attended film festivals together, but the powerhouse couple has never had an Oscars date night. Sadly, tonight won’t be their first. The red carpet came and went without either attending. Their absence is no surprise: Neither Reynolds nor Lively has a project nominated nor were they tapped to present during the show.
There is a chance they could attend an Oscar after-party later, although neither has been photographed in Los Angeles leading up to the ceremony. Reynolds was last snapped in New York City on March 3. He and Lively were photographed together there on March 2.
At the end of February, Lively spoke a bit about her relationship with Reynolds and the rule they imposed early on. Lively was doing an interview with her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star Amber Tamblyn for Tamblyn’s Substack show, Further Ado.
“When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time so that we could always prioritize our personal life,” Lively said. She added, “That takes working really hard when we’re not. Just like financial planning and sustaining that; it takes balance.”
It was an adjustment for Lively, she shared, as she had been still filming Gossip Girl at the beginning of their relationship. “I’m used to working hard and going and going and going and going and not stopping,” Lively said. “Especially, Gossip Girl was six years of my life, and we were sometimes shooting three episodes at once.”
