Five Houma- and Thibodaux-area baseball teams made the LHSAA playoffs, with two playing in the first round last week. Here's how they fared and what to expect from the surviving teams in the second round, including dates and first pitch times:

Assumption

The Mustangs opened the playoffs as the 11-seed in Division II non-select. AHS managed a sweep of 22nd-seeded Albany, taking Game 1 at home, 5-3, and Game 2 on the road, 5-0. Assumption will play No. 6 North Vermillion in the second round this weekend, with Game 1's first pitch set for 4 p.m. Friday. Game 2 will be noon Saturday, and Game 3 — if necessary — will be Saturday at 3 p.m. NVHS will host all three games, although Assumption will be the designated home team for Game 2.

St. James

The Wildcats had their season come to an end in a first-round sweep in Division III non-select. Many run-ruled SJHS in Game 1, 10-0, and did it again in Game 2, 10-0.

First-round byes

In Division II select, 3-seed Vandebilt Catholic found out its second-round opponent last weekend. The Terriers will host 14-seed Kenner Discovery Health Science, which enters off a sweep of Peabody. Game 1 is Wednesday at 6 p.m, with Game 2 on Thursday at 5 p.m and the if-necessary Game 3 on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. VCHS will host all three games, although the Terriers will be the designated road team in Game 2.
