White House news briefing: Watch live

Recorded earlier

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and White House national security spokesperson John Kirby will deliver a daily press briefing Friday afternoon.

With a partial government shutdown averted, President Biden’s legislative priorities return to the continuing questions of aid to Israel and Ukraine and funding for border security.

Yesterday in a visit to Brownsville, Texas, Biden stated that “it’s long past time to act” on the issue of immigration. Republican critics, including former President Trump, appearing Thursday at Eagle Pass, Texas, effectively agreed with that sentiment.

But while GOP leaders blame this delay on Biden himself, the White House is pressing the House to approve measures already passed in the Senate.
