Where's my tax refund? How to track your Iowa, federal refund status

We're in the thick of tax season. If you've already filed your taxes, you might be wondering, when should you get your tax refunds, and how do you check its status?

How do I track my Iowa tax refund status?

Iowa has its own Where's My Refund? tool on tax.iowa.gov to check the status of individual income tax returns and amended individual income tax returns you've filed in the last year.

You will need to know your Social Security number and the amount of your refund. It can take up to a week after filing your return electronically for tracking information to appear on the state's tool.

Iowans can also get information by calling 1-800-367-3388. The representatives will not have any additional information than what's on the website, according to the Department of Revenue.

Iowa's goal is to process refunds within 30 days, the website said.
