Early voting for the 2022 midterms is well under way with the last day to early vote Nov. 4, but if you’re still looking for a polling location in time for Election Day Nov. 8, Tarrant County has dozens of options for voters.

Tarrant County has offered county-wide voting since November 2019. That year, over 50% of voters cast their ballots at a polling location outside their precinct.

What is county-wide voting?

County-wide voting allows all registered voters in Tarrant County to vote at any polling location in the county.

Previously, voters could only vote in their assigned precincts which is in the area they live.

After the November 2019 election, Tarrant County was given permanent approval for county-wide voting by the Texas Secretary of State.

Tarrant County is designated “successful” for county-wide voting by the Secretary of State.

Can I still vote in my precinct?

Yes, registered voters can still vote in their precinct if they wish but it is not required.

Does county-wide voting skew results for different precincts?

No. County-wide voting means registered voters can vote at any polling place, but it doesn’t mean they receive the ballot for the precinct they vote in.

No matter the location, voters will still fill out the ballot which applies to the precinct they are registered in.

Am I allowed to wait in line to vote if the polling location is about to close?

Election Day is Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all Texas polling places. Voters in line by 7 p.m. to cast their ballot are allowed to remain in line to vote.
