Where Vanderbilt baseball stands in latest 2024 NCAA Tournament bracket projections

Vanderbilt baseball has fallen out of the NCAA regional hosting battle, according to the most recent bracket projections.

Baseball America is more bullish on the Commodores. That projection has Vanderbilt as the No. 2 seed in the regional hosted by No. 13 overall seed Indiana State in Terre Haute, along with Kansas State and Bowling Green. The Commodores played the Sycamores at Hawkins Field and won, 20-4.

That regional is paired up with the regional hosted by No. 4 seed Tennessee and consisting of San Diego, Louisville and Wright State.

In D1Baseball's projections, Vanderbilt has dropped to a No. 3 seed in the regional hosted by No. 11 seed Virginia. That regional also includes San Diego and Army and is paired with the regional hosted by No. 6 seed North Carolina and consisting of Alabama, UNC Wilmington and Bryant.

Vanderbilt (33-16, 11-13 SEC) is No. 22 in the RPI after beating Louisville on Tuesday. The Commodores are just 6-13 against Quadrant 1 opponents but 27-3 against all other opponents.

SEC teams typically need 13 SEC wins with an RPI that is in the top 30, or 14 SEC wins with an RPI in the top 40, to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
