Dozens of states could immediately restrict or ban abortion now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned by the Supreme Court.
"If enough states prohibit this, there might be some places where it's cheaper or easier to travel internationally to Mexico or Canada, in particular, than it is to travel to another state," said Glenn Cohen, a Harvard Law School professor who specializes in bioethics and the law and authored "Patients with Passports," among other books.
While cost and accessibility eliminate the feasibility of traveling abroad for abortion care for many Americans, there is interest. Internet queries like "Is abortion legal in Canada?" and "list of countries where abortion is illegal" spiked this week.

Here are the countries where abortion is legal and where it is altogether banned, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights, which advocates for reproductive rights around the world.
Independent states with populations over 1 million, semi-autonomous regions, territories and jurisdictions of special status are also included.

The Center for Reproductive Rights notes that a new penal code is set to take effect in Haiti in July, decriminalizing abortions up to 12 weeks in cases of rape, incest or "if the physical/mental health of the women is in danger," but critics think the code could be changed before implementation.
