At the turn of the new year, some people make resolutions, and others make reservations—of the plane, hotel, and restaurant variety, that is.

With that in mind, we asked 14 fashion-forward designers, stylists, influencers, and more to give us a sneak peek into their travel diaries for the upcoming year, and the responses were...surprising. They shared some tried-and-true favorites, such as the scenic Rockhouse Hotel & Spa in Negril for a little Jamaican getaway (that one came from milliner Gigi Burris, who will certainly be packing all the right sun hats for the journey), but there were also some unexpected answers, too: A-list celebrity stylist Karla Welch, for example, is looking forward to unplugging at her family’s lakefront cabin in British Columbia this summer, far from the style scene.

Whatever their line of work, and wherever their journeys bring them—whether it’s Gstaad, India, or Seoul, Korea—one thing is clear: Chic people continue to draw on travel as a major source of inspiration. Here’s where they’re heading this year.

LaQuan Smith; Designer and Founder of LaQuan Smith

“In 2024, I’m looking forward to traveling to Mumbai, India to immerse myself in the rich culture and see first-hand the elaborate embroidery process I’ve been using throughout my collections.”

Maria Dueñas Jacobs; Founder of Super Smalls

“This is a big travel year for us, as our three girls are now old enough to really appreciate and engage in the trip. First, we’re headed to Madrid, so that they can practice their Spanish, meet extended family they haven’t had a chance to yet, and go to an Atlético de Madrid soccer game, because few things compare to the energy of a La Liga face-off!”

Nicky Zimmermann; Co-Founder and Creative Director of Zimmermann

“St. Barth is such a great destination—it’s an ideal place to escape the cold with a nice balance of relaxation and fun. Since it’s a French island, I can get lots of my favorite beauty products, too. Pharmacie de Gustavia is my go-to for its impressive selection of creams and elixirs. And by the next time I visit, our new Zimmermann store will have opened on Rue du Général de Gaulle, which I can’t wait to see.”

Sofia Sanchez de Betak; Designer and Founder of Chufy

“I have to say, since the pandemic, long-distance travel hasn’t been my priority. These days, the Canary Islands are calling me—the hikes, the farms, the soil, all the greenery!”

Tina Leung; Influencer

“Just the usual: Paris for couture week in January, and then I’m hoping to ski somewhere in Europe afterwards—but no plans yet. I have to be in Milan in the beginning of February before New York Fashion Week, and then the whole circuit starts all over again.”

Chrissy Rutherford; Writer and Brand Consultant

“When I think of wanting to relax in 2024, Ibiza is top of mind. It’s such a misunderstood place, precisely because people think you only go there to party, but it really is what you make of it. The island can be so relaxing if you seek out those types of experiences, like going to the Six Senses Ibiza, which has so many wellness and healing activities. I want to go on a hike overlooking Es Vedrà, which is one of the most magnetic places in the world, and shop in Santa Gertrudis for great clothing and homewares.”

Katie Sturino; Founder of Megababe and Body Acceptance Advocate

“I went to the Aeolian Islands in Sicily last summer, but my trip was cut short because I got a stomach bug, so I sadly didn’t get to enjoy anything that the Principe di Salina hotel had to offer. I can’t wait to go back and ride scooters around this quiet island and swim in the most clear water I have ever seen.”

Gigi Burris; Designer, Milliner, and Founder of Gigi Burris

“The past six months have been dedicated to our store opening, which means limited travel opportunities. Now that we are open (in New York!), I am ready to take some straw hats out and head down to Negril for sunshine and cliff jumping. My husband and I love to stay at Rockhouse and consume all of the jerk seasoning!”

Hillary Taymour; Creative Director of Collina Strada

“I am going to Seoul for a store takeover and party with E()pty. I am so excited to try interesting skin care treatments, like stem cell facials and customized skin analysis. I love Korean food and just want to go on a kimchi frenzy around the city.”

Dr. Barbara Sturm; Founder of Dr. Barbara Sturm

“Gstaad is beautiful every season, and it has everything, from swimming in the river and mushroom-picking to skiing in the mountains and hiking in the forest. If you’re seeking social activities, it has the best hotels, too. The Palace, with its beautiful terrace, has breathtaking mountain views, making it the perfect spot for lunch with friends. I also love Le Grand Bellevue for its beautiful rooms, and you must visit the spa, which offers Dr. Barbara Sturm facials and all of your favorite products. Once you come to Gstaad, you’ll be a fan for life.”

Jane Gottschalk; Co-Founder and Creative Director of Perfect Moment

“Picture-perfect Aspen always has a magical vibe. Start the day at the Gorsuch Ski Café for great coffee and French-style croissants. Indulge in après at The Snow Lodge in the St. Regis, or try to grab a sold-out spot at its new spa, RAKxa. The best coffee or lunch stop is Ajax Tavern at The Little Nell, right at the base of Aspen Mountain (a.k.a. Ajax). See and be seen at the ever-vibrant Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa or the slightly more formal Catch Steak. The best part? You can walk everywhere.”

Jessel Taank; The Real Housewives of New York City Star and Founder of ŌUSHQ

“I’m heading to Mumbai to meet several designers for ŌUSHQ, my new retail platform showcasing emerging South Asian brands like Rimzim Dadu and Zara Umrigar. The attention to detail in Indian fashion is unparalleled. The hand embroidery you find there takes years to perfect.”

J.J. Martin; Founder of La DoubleJ

“I was invited on this wonderful trip to Mustique in March that I can’t wait to go on. I’m hoping it will be the perfect post-Milan Fashion Week collapse. The raw nature of the island looks really powerful, so I plan to immerse myself not just in the water, but also in the beautiful gardens and greenery there. If I happen to stumble upon a new unique way in which to spread our prints while I’m there, all the better!”

Karla Welch; Stylist, Creative Director, and Co-Founder of The Period Company

“The only place I want to go is Dog Island, which is me and my husband’s little getaway on the best lake in the world in British Columbia, Canada. We travel with our son and dogs, and then spend the summer there with our entire family, swimming, eating, and playing games—it’s heaven!”
