The Wheel of Time Season 3: Here’s Everything That Was Revealed at NYCC

Wheel of Time fans likely will be waiting a while for Season 3 — the Prime Video adaptation’s first two seasons premiered 20 months apart — but until then, showrunner Rafe Judkins has offered up several teasers to chew on.

For starters, during a Saturday appearance at the TV series’ New York Comic Con panel, Judkins revealed that Season 3 will focus primarily on the storylines from Book Four (The Shadow Rising) of Robert Jordan’s series of novels, with a sprinkling of elements from Book Five (The Fires of Heaven).

Judkins also teased that viewers will get to meet additional members of the Forsaken, and that the third season will explore Dreamwalking, the ability to enter the dreams of others.

The Wheel of Time boss was not done weaving excitement, however.

On Sunday, following a special screening of the Season 2 finale (read in-depth recap), Judkins participated in a moderated Q&A during which he teased more key Season 3 plot points. In addition to taking viewers back to the Two Rivers, Judkins said that the upcoming season will bring to life fan-favorite cities, never before seen on screen, including Tanchico and Rhuidean. Season 3, he added, will also visit the Aiel Waste, dive into the Aiel culture, and dig deeper into Aes Sedai politics at the White Tower.

Lastly, Judkins said that Season 3 will explore new versions of channeling in other cultures, and will introduce the famous Sea Folk, a seafaring people known for trading.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 was filmed in the Czech Republic, Morocco, and Italy, and starred Rosamund Pike (as Moiraine Damodred), Daniel Henney (Lan Mandragoran), Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor), Zoë Robins (Nynaeve al’Meara), Madeleine Madden ((Egwene al’Vere), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Dónal Finn (Mat Cauthon) and Ceara Coveney (Elayne Trakand).
