What's open and closed Memorial Day 2024 in Las Cruces

The U.S. observes Memorial Day on Monday, May 27.

In Las Cruces here's what's open and closed to residents from city offices to local pools.

These facilities are closed on Monday:

  • Fielder Memorial Safe Haven

  • East Mesa Recreation Center

  • Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center

  • Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and its branch libraries

  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center

  • All museums

  • Rio Grande Theatre

  • All Senior Programs facilities and services

  • Visit Las Cruces

Other services impacted by Memorial Day in Las Cruces

In addition to these closures local utility offices and landfill will be closed. Foothills Landfill and South Central Solid Waste Authority Administrative offices are closed and will resume operations on Tuesday, May 28. Despite these closures, solid waste collection will go on as scheduled for residential and commercial customers.

The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Dona Ana County Collection Sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Corralitos Landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

The City of Las Cruces said all RoadRUNNER Transit operations and facilities were closed on Monday.

Here's what's open in Las Cruces on Memorial Day

City swimming pools are open on May 27 with a free swim day at the following locations: City’s outdoor pools, Laabs Pool, 750 W. Picacho Ave., and the East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool, 6141 Reynolds Drive.

The Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, located at 1401 E. Hadley Ave. will host an aquatic fitness session from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with open swim session from noon to 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The upstairs Fitness & Weight Room at the Regional Aquatics Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Las Cruces Natatorium, 1405 E. Hadley Ave., will have normal hours of operation 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
