It's time to prep your playlists and give your AirPod case an overdue cleaning (no judgement): The battle for 2024's official Song of the Summer is nigh. And might I say, the music's heavy hitters are not trying to play around this season. Dua Lipa's gone auburn. Ariana Grande's emerged from her Wicked reclusion. Hell, Beyoncé's actually been captioning her Instagram posts. Basically, every major artist has deemed '24 a year for intro'ing new eras and dropping bops, so for that we should be grateful.

But beyond providing us with some v entertaining pop culture fodder, this onslaught of releases just = a wealth of options for your beach day tunes and barbecue playlists! A wealth that could overwhelm you if you don't know where to start—so we're here to shepherd you. Go ahead and get into the 12 tracks below, because if your summertime shenanigans aren't backed by a solid soundtrack, did they even happen?

"Jump" by Tyla

The girl from Jo-burg strikes again! Last summer, Tyla absolutely owned airwaves and For You Pages worldwide with "Water"—this summer she's not letting up. "Jump" has major beach party hit potential.

"Te Mata" by Kali Uchis

If you aren't already addicted to this sultry Bolero track off Kali's latest record, prepare to be. If you press play and feel inclined to pretend you're an ingenue dancing with a handsome stranger in a spy movie, please be my guest.

"The von dutch remix with addison rae and a.g. cook" by Charlie XCX

Charli, the reigning queen of hyperpop doesn't know how to disappoint. As she so clearly states on the original version of this track, she's our #1 (apologies to Kendall Roy). Excuse me while I run Addison Rae's iconic scream back on this song for the fourth time.

"YA YA" by Beyoncé

There are almost too many instant classics on Bey's latest album, but among the Dolly Parton collabs and tearjerking ballads lies this certified party-starter. When Beyoncé says snap you snap! And when Beyoncé says twerk you twerk! That's law.

"Too Sweet" Hozier

Is this song about Hozier gently rejecting someone? Yes! Does he manage to make it sound like 2024's most romantic dedication? Affirmative! This is one of those lovely instances where the snippet of this song that's viral on TikTok isn't the only good bit. Cheers to that.

"Training Season" by Dua Lipa

Maybe you're already humming this on a regular basis. If not, just know you will be soon. Dua's back, and she's not here to train you on how to love her! Luckily with hits like this one, she's not hard to love.

"Bye" by Ariana Grande

Refreshingly upbeat breakup music keeps the world spinning! Thanks to Ari, we're in no shortage of such tunes. Putting this on will make you want to dance, slam a door in someone's face, or go on an IG blocking spree. Maybe even do all of the above. Bye!

"Cinderella" by Remi Wolf

I predict that we'll see an influx of "Me and the boys in the hotel lobby" captions this summer and it'll be all thanks to Remi. I want this on at cookouts! During road trips! At the grocery store! Gimme!

"I LUV IT" by Camila Cabello feat. Playboi Carti

Camila's rebrand is here, like (*luv?) it or not. When "I LUV IT" was first teased, its departure from CC's typical style certainly had the internet talking, but you can't deny this track's catchiness. Maybe blondes do have more fun.

"The Door" by Teddy Swims

The Teddy Swims wave is active and growing. "The Door" hype is sure to grow right along with it. Try not to two step once that bridge hits. It's hard, I know.

"Cardinal" by Kacey Musgraves

If this song's any indication, Kacey's Saturn Return was not exactly a picnic—but she produced this three-minute masterpiece on "the other side," and for that we should be grateful.

"Get It Sexyy" by Sexyy Red

How does an artist follow a project as culturally ubiquitous and mobilizing as "SkeeYee"? With this banger. Call it a paradox, but somehow Sexyy Red's self-motivational song feels like a hype track for her listeners. That could be you. So yes, get it [insert your name here].
