Wet weekend: Here’s the rain totals you can expect in Beaufort County through Monday

It’s going to be a wet weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Through Monday, the Beaufort area is expected to receive 3-4 inches of rain and Charleston, 4 to 6 inches.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day. High temperatures Sunday are forecast to be in the upper 80s, with mostly cloudy skies, and a 30 to 60 percent change of thunderstroms, the Weather Service said.

Monday’s forecast: A high near 86 and an 80 percent change of rain.

On late Saturday afternoon, strong thunderstorms moved through portions of Beaufort and Jasper counties.

At 4:52 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over Port Royal, moving east at 30 mph, bringing the possibility of 45 to 55 mph winds.

The Weather Service said to expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects.

Some locations in the path of this storm included Bluffton, Beaufort, Port Royal, Clarendon, Jasper, Lemon Island, Rose Hill and Sun City.

The statement was valid until 5:30 p.m.

At 5:17 p.m. Saturday, the Weather Service issued another statement about a strong radar-indicated thunderstorm over the Bellinger Hill Area moving east at 10 mph that would bring 45-55 mph winds. Some locations in the path of this storm include: Hilton Head Island, Pooler, Bluffton, Richmond Hill, Tybee Island, Wilmington Island, Fort Pulaski National Monument and Bellinger Hill Area.

The statement was valid until 6 p.m.
