Westport baseball topples league opponent Southeastern: Top performers (May 6-11)

EASTON — Connor James pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts to lift the Wildcats to a 7-1 road win over Southeastern.

Joey Guild led Westport (5-3) with two clutch hits with three RBIs. Max Gallant also had a pair of hits.

Owen Boudria crushed a home run over the left field fence. Dylan Kirby finished with a hit and three stolen bases.

Softball

New Bedford 11, Durfee 2

The Hilltoppers fall to league opponent New Bedford. Mia Jacob led Durfee (2-10) with two hits and an RBI. Rachel Silva also drove in a run. Defensively, the Hilltoppers turned two double plays.

Southeastern 5, Westport 1

The Wildcats lost their game to Mayflower League Large opponent Southeastern. Tess Silvia (stolen base, run scored) and Makayla Grace (RBI) each had a hit. Mackenzy Ponte pitched three innings, giving up two runs while striking out three. Makayla Grace had seven strikeouts in four innings.

Boys Tennis

Durfee 4, Westport 1

Will Rumsey (6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), Colin Fleet (6-1, 6-1) and Jack Fitzgerald (6-2, 6-4) each won their singles match for the Hilltoppers in a win against Westport. Chrispin Sokol and Xavier Inacio won in straight sets at first doubles for Durfee (7-2), 6-0, 6-1. Fotis Machairas and Anthony Raposa collected the Wildcats' (5-4) lone win at second doubles in Raposa's season debut.

Girls Tennis

Durfee 4, Westport 1

Brooke Tabicas won a tiebreaking match (4-6, 6-2, 10–7) in singles competition to help the Hilltoppers beat Westport. Gabby Farias and Sydnie Duong won their third match at first doubles while Teeda San and Madi Tabicas won in straight sets at second doubles 6-3, 6-0. Senior captain Kaelyn Jones won her match at first singles for the Wildcats (1-7), 7-5, 6-1. Eighth grader Abby Forbes fell just short losing her match at third singles, 6-4, 3-6, 7-10.

Boys Outdoor Track

Case 70, West Bridgewater 66

The Cardinals evened their record to 2-2 after edging West Bridgewater. Chris Gaborieault was a double winner in the triple jump (40'6") and long jump (18'7"). Other winners for Case were Ben Fortier (javelin; 139-8), Ryan Lebeau (discus; 88-3) and Aiden Wallace (mile; 5:18). Ben Deady (110 hurdles; 16.7), Jackson Deady (800; 2:23), Owen Dias (400 hurdles; 63.0) and Trevor Godfrey (400; 53.8) also performed well.

Girls Outdoor Track

Case 85, West Bridgewater 51

The Cardinals remained unbeaten on the season after beating West Bridgewater. Liberty Gazaille was a double winner in the discus (88') and shot put (32-5). Kambree Nell won two events — javelin (76-11) and 800 (2:52).Gabby Thorpe 100 (12.7), Aiyanah Massie 200 (27.7), Hannah Santos high jump (5-0), Deanna Brightman triple jump (30-5) and Skylar Demoranville 400 hurdles (77.6) also won their events.

Boys Volleyball

Durfee 3, Quincy 1

The Hilltoppers took four of five games from Quincy on the road. Danny Matuszek had a season and career high 49 assists for Durfee (8-5). Chris Milfort tied the single match record with 28 kills and recorded his 500th career kill. Josh Sanon also had a season-high 20 kills. JO Olubanwo had eight kills and Elias DaSilva finished with 14 digs.
