The manhunt began Monday after the suspect confronted a homeowner in Odessa when a struggle ensued, officials said.

He shot and killed the homeowner and took the homeowner's vehicle, according to allegations on the Ector County Sheriff's Office Facebook.

The vehicle was described as a black 2014 Ford Mustang.

The suspect, described as a white male with a thin build, was said to have stolen two cars and crashed them both after the murder, according to allegations.

Recent information revealed the suspect crashed somewhere in Irion County, and the DPS is working on apprehending him, according to the San Angelo Police Department.

Around 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, the Irion County Sheriff's Office advised residents to avoid the area of Park View Street between Duncan and Fayette where there was heavy police activity.

"The manhunt for the suspect wanted in connection with murder in Ector County has ended," the Sheriff's Office said over five hours later. "The man believed to be the murder suspect is deceased following an officer-involved shooting earlier today."

The Facebook post said the Texas Rangers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

"More information will be released when available," the sheriff's office said.
