Who Went Home and Who Made It Through Team Legend’s Playoffs on 'The Voice' Season 24

Lila Forde, Taylor Deneen, John Legend, Kaylee Shimizu, Mac Royals, Kristen Brown

It was the final night of Playoffs tonight on season 24 of The Voice when John Legend was the final coach to put his team through a sing off and then had to whittle it down from six artists to the three that would make the Live Shows.

The original five members that made it through the Knockouts on Team Legend were Kaylee Shimizu, Kristen Brown, Lila Forde, Mac Royals and Taylor Deenen—and then his sixth team member was his Super Save Azán.

John says, “Azán’s voice is super smooth. She has a neo-soul vibe but also she’s my favorite live performer out of all my artists, so I had to bring her back to Team Legend.”

To date, Team Niall is sending Huntley, Nini Iris and Mara Justine to the Live Shows. Team Reba consists of Jordan Rainer, Jacquie Roar and Ruby Leigh, while Team Gwen is made up of BIAS, Tanner Massey and Kara Tenae.

The winners of the Playoffs will move on to the Live Shows, which will begin on Monday, Dec. 4.

Here’s how the night played out:

Azán (Super Save)

Song: “Adorn” by Miguel

John said: “Oh, my God. That was literally perfect. There is nothing I would edit or change and I am always editing and changing. For you to completely nail it, A++. You just made a great statement for yourself. You are formidable, undeniable. You are a real talent and I am so impressed with you.”

Kristen Brown

Song: “Need You Now” by Lady A

John said: “I stole you for a reason and this was just another level. Having the finesse and the breath control to do what you did early in the song and be just flawless, we were all looking at each other like, ‘Wow!’ It was perfectly executed.”

Kaylee Shimizu

Song: “You Put a Move on My Heart” by Quincy Jones feat. Tamia

John said: “It really is phenomenal that you are the age that you are, and your voice has this much control and depth and range. Your low voice is really gorgeous. I love the warmth in it. The fact that you can do that and then go to those notes in the stratosphere that almost no one on the planet can hit, you’re ready for this. You are ready to be a big star. You’re so special Kaylee.”

Taylor Deneen

Song: “Get Here” by Oleta Adams

John said: “You just carry yourself with such elegance. I just love your tone. It’s got that sweetness but it’s still really soulful and powerful when it needs to be, too. It felt like you were just putting on a concert for us. You are amazing Taylor. I’m so honored to work with you.”

Lila Forde

Song: “Angel from Montgomery” by Bonnie Raitt

John said: “You just have a certain light about you that makes you very individual with a real sense of identity. The runs you do make these songs sound more modern, but they don’t take you out of the spirit of the song. It’s really fresh, but it’s classic at the same time. I am just thrilled to work with you.”

Mac Royals

Song: “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” by DeAngelo

John said: “I have been making R&B records for decades now and I just put you up there with the best that I’ve ever been around. I feel like you are the complete package of what R&B music needs right now. When you came to my team, I felt like I understood you and believed in you and you rewarding that leap of faith I took back then. I am ready to hear a Mac record right now. I’m just thrilled to work with you.”

Then it was decision time. The three artists that John selected were:

Mac Royals

John said: “I really can’t stop raving about Mac. I want to hear his record. I want to see him on the biggest stages. I feel like R&B needs Mac. I want him to be signed like yesterday. I am so excited to see what Mac does in the Lives.”

Lila Forde

John said: “I chose Lila because she’s been magical every single round. There is no one else like her in the competition. She has such competence and presence. I think that’s really rare. Lila’s future is so bright on The Voice and beyond.”

Azán

John said: “Azán gave her best performance and rose to the occasion. This performance of ‘Adorn’ was literally flawless. I have to reward her by putting her into the Lives.”

The Voice goes live on Monday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
