Who Went Home and Who Made It Through Night 3 on 'The Voice' Season 25 Battles

Madison Curbelo

The Battles continue for a third night on Season 25 of The Voice with coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay pairing up their teams for sing-offs which determine which artist goes through to the Knockouts and which one goes home.

This season the Playoff Pass is back – and each coach gets just one, which means while one of their artists will go into the Knockouts, the other will go straight into the Playoffs. To date, John used his Playoff Pass to send Bryan Olesen directly to the Playoffs, Reba used hers to allow L. Rodgers to skip the Knockouts, and Chance used his to send Nadège straight through.

And then, of course, each coach also gets one Steal to take an artist from another team to join theirs. On night one, Chance used his Steal to take Alyssa Crosby from Team Reba, and on night two, Reba used her Steal to acquire Justin & Jeremy Garcia from Team Dan + Shay.

Battle Round 1: Donny Van Slee vs Josh Sanders from Team Reba

Song: "When it Rains It Pours” by Luke Combs

Winner: Josh Sanders

Reba said: “That was so hard. Donny is a big talent. It just flows out of him onstage, but I chose Josh because vocally, Josh just stepped up to the plate. I think America’s going to fall in love with Josh."

Battle Round 2: Ronnie Wilson vs Gene Taylor from Team Legend

Song: “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars

Winner: Gene Taylor

John said: “Gene is such a great singer. He’s got a beautiful, pure voice. His tone is so rich. Gene is a great fit for The Voice.

Battle Round 3: Madison Curbelo vs Kyle Schuesler from Team Dan + Shay

Song: “Lucky” by Jason Mraz

Winner: Kyle Schuesler

Dan said: “Kyle’s performance blew me away. There was just a magic between them. There was chemistry.”

Shay said: “For him to step up like that and learn Spanish for this performance, it just shows how badly he wants it.”

Dan added: “I love Kyle’s tone. It’s so smooth and so consistent and that’s just really impressive. You don’t see that every day. I feel like people on TV are going to love Kyle. Ladies, looking at you.”

Then, John hit his Steal button but Dan + Shay hit their Playoff Pass button, which trumps a Steal.

Playoff Pass: Madison Curbelo

Shay said: “Madison, you just blew us away. I feel like you’re a star. You have everything it takes to win this competition.”

Dan added: “John said this a few times today, but I feel your voice in my heart in such a big way. We’re lucky to have you on our team. So, congratulations. You have a week off.”

Shay wrapped it up: “We had to use our Playoff Pass for Madison. She has that raw talent.”

Battle Round 4: Bri Fletcher vs Serenity Arce from Team Chance

Song: “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi

Winner: Serenity Arce

Chance said: “Serenity and Bri, it broke my heart to have to pick. They are two very distinct vocalists and Serenity is only going to get better. She has a very angelic but strong voice. I can’t wait to see what she does in this competition.”

Battle Round 5: Dani Stacy vs Corey Curtis from Team Chance

Song: “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar

Winner: Dani Stacy

Chance said: “I knew Dani could do R&B but I didn’t know if she could do contemporary R&B. I had to go with Dani because she just had a better grasp on the song and more control of her voice. Dani can literally do anything. She’s going to surprise the other coaches when it comes to the Knockouts."

Battle Round 6: Ryan Coleman vs Ducote Talmage from Team Dan + Shay

Song: “Rock and a Hard Place” by Bailey Zimmerman

Winner: Ducote Talmage

Dan said: “Ducote and Ryan was one of the closest Battles. They both crushed it, but Ducote just connected with the lyrics and emotion of the song the littlest bit more, like 5 percent more. He’s magnetic and the texture of his voice is special.”

Shay added: “Ducote is someone the competition needs. We just couldn’t send him home.”

Battle Round 7: Jackie Romeo vs Olivia Rubini from Team Legend

Song: “Edge of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks

Winner: Jackie Romeo

John said: “Both of these artists are so talented. Jackie has this powerful voice that cuts through to the core. I really think Jackie’s a threat. She can sing anything. She is so precise. I love Jackie’s voice.”

Steal: Olivia Rubini

Shay said: “We have a lot of different flavors on Team Dan + Shay. We’ve got a singer/songwriter, we’ve got some R&B singers, we’ve got some strong vocal singers. We kind of have it all."

Dan said: “We stole Olivia because she’s got a strong, retro Stevie Nicks-like voice. We have a stacked team.”

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, and streams next day on Peacock.
