Wendy’s employee accused of fatally punching 67-year-old customer is charged with second-degree murder

An Arizona Wendy’s employee accused of punching a customer complaining about an order has now been charged with second-degree murder after the victim died from his injuries, police said in an update.

Antoine Kendrick, who was previously charged with aggravated assault, remains in custody, the Prescott Valley Police Department said.

The incident occurred on July 26 at a Wednesday’s restaurant in Prescott Valley, according to police, who said in a previous announcement that the employee “came out from behind the service counter and struck the customer in the head.”

“The customer fell to the floor striking his head and lost consciousness,” police said.

The victim, whom police haven’t identified by name, was 67.

Police say the victim was airlifted to a Valley hospital in critical condition. In an update this week, police said he died on Aug. 5.

A surveillance video published by Phoenix news station KPHO appears to show the suspect walking around the counter and slugging the victim, who appeared to be staring forward.

Prescott Valley is located about 90 miles north of Phoenix.
