Weekend rains in Milwaukee bring about a half inch, more to the south

Weekend rain in Milwaukee totaled about a half inch, as a storm dumped its heaviest totals in other parts of Wisconsin.

A weather system brought rain and thunderstorms throughout the southern half of Wisconsin through most of the weekend, with thunderstorms occurring late Saturday evening. Data from the National Weather Service showed weekend totals fell a bit short of projections of between 1 inch and 2.5 inches.

“Madison and Milwaukee didn’t get much, but just south of those areas, we had a pretty good strip of rain,” said Denny VanCleve, a meteorologist at the Milwaukee NWS office.
