It's Mother's Day weekend (but you already knew that, right?), and it's officially townie summer! There's still plenty to do around town and you probably won't have to wait for a table, stand in line to get in, or Roshambo someone for a parking spot. From a classic play to cocktail classes to the summer's first Fair of the Arts, it's time to get out and enjoy Bloomington.

Travel to 1940s New Orleans with ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’

Witness the iconic Tennessee Williams play this weekend and next at the Ted Jones Playhouse. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play will be performed by the Bloomington-based Eclipse Productions Company, with shows Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. The Ted Jones Playhouse is located at 107 W 9th St. Ticket prices vary. See three beloved Bloomington acts perform under one roof at The Bishop this Saturday. Amy O, founder of Girls Rock Bloomington, and indie-rock quintet The Matriarch will be co-hosting a release show for the acts’ two new albums, which are both out Friday. Beloved folktronica duo Busman’s Holiday will also be playing. The Bishop is at 123 S. Walnut St. Event begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at thebishopbar.com/events.

The summer's first Fair of the Arts kicks off this Saturday at Fernandez Plaza in front of City Hall. The fair, hosted every second Saturday of the month through October, brings together local art merchants, demonstrations and displays from local and regional artists. City Hall is located at 401 N. Morton St. Event begins at 8 a.m. and lasts till 1 p.m. Free.

Bike for a cause at Switchyard Park

Bike with the B-Town community at Bike 4 All this Saturday, an all-ages outdoor biking and running event hosted by the Monroe County YMCA. The event will feature a 2-mile course around Switchyard Park and the B-Line Trail, live music, games, health and wellness booths and more. The event is free for kids 17 and under, and free bike helmets will be distributed to kids while supplies last. Proceeds from the event benefit the Y for All Scholarship Fund, which expands the accessibility of YMCA programs and services to families and individuals facing financial hardships. Switchyard Park is at 1601 S. Rogers St., and the event gathers at the outdoor stage at 9 a.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for YMCA members and free for kids 17 and under.
