An Horry County coroner released yesterday that two people died from Wednesday’s plane crash in Conway.

The victims from the airplane crash are Terry Druffell, 66, and Barrie McMurtrie, 72. The victims were from the Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.

“Both victims died at the scene from injuries from the crash. Any other information will come from FAA or NTSB,” according to a news release

The crash occurred near McNeil Street, according to Coroner Darris Fowler.

The small-engine Piper P28R aircraft crashed in a wooded area around noon, aviation officials wrote in an email.

“An autopsy was ordered to follow FAA protocol. The victims died from injuries due to the plane crash,” Fowler said.

The crash was caused by engine problems, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. No other information was immediately available.
