Wayne Gretzky sued over gum chewing, weight loss claims

Bad news for the Great One.

NHL legend Wayne Gretzky is being sued by a man who alleges that Gretzky’s claim that he lost weight by chewing gum cost the man millions of dollars, according to TMZ Sports.

Steven Sparks claims he lost $10 million after creating OMG Gum, a weight-loss management gum. Sparks hired Janet Gretzky, Wayne’s spouse, as a spokesperson.

Gretzky allegedly lied that the gum helped him lose 35 pounds and bought stock in the company.

Sparks reportedly reinvested money into the company but lost at least $10 million after Gretzky later admitted he had not lost weight chewing gum and the business cratered.

Gretzky played for 20 years in the NHL, mostly with the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings, becoming the league’s all-time leader in goals, assists and points.
