‘Get out of the water!’ Watch the chaotic scene after shark shows up at Florida beach

Terrified swimmers scrambled to shore Monday at Navarre Beach near Pensacola, Florida, after a large dorsal fin suddenly popped up in the water.

Yes, it was a shark, darting around in waist-deep waters, and near dozens of people.

Tennessee visitor Cristy Mccallie Cox happened to have her phone at the ready, and shared her video of the chaotic scene with her Facebook friends.

It all happened so fast!” Cox told the Pensacola News Journal. “Everyone was stunned as it moved down the beach chasing the school of fish.”

In the clip, folks can be seen scrambling to make it to dry land, many with kids, as the fish zips back and forth, like a scene out of 1975’s horror flick “Jaws.”

“Get out of the water!” a woman screams off camera. “Hurry, hurry!”

As soon as it had appeared, the shark — which has been widely identified by experts as a hammerhead thanks to the shape of its tall, straight fin — disappeared.

No one was injured in the tumult, and it’s unlikely that the shark would have bitten anyone, Gavin Naylor, director of Florida Shark Research at the University of Florida, told News 4 Jax. “There were lots of people in the water but yet the shark was meandering around chasing its food.”
