WORCESTER — A 16-inch water main broke in the area of 725 Grafton St. early Tuesday morning, the city said.

Traffic was being redirected in the area near the water main Tuesday afternoon as crews worked to repair the pipe. The pipe has been turned off and a city spokesperson said the shutdown area is small.

The spokesperson said residents may experience rusty water, but the water is not harmful. Residents are advised to run their cold water in a tub for about 10 minutes to clear it up as repair work is ongoing.

The water main is near the fire station at 745 Grafton St.
