At 76 years old, legendary German racer Walter Rörhl doesn't have anything to prove to himself, or anyone else. Yet, he still sets a damn impressive lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a new Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Watch the master at work.

This video comes from Nürburgring YouTuber Misha Charoudin, who got to sit right-seat while Rörhl took him around the Nordschleife during an event put on by Bilstein. What's always striking watching onboard videos by Rörhl is the look of concentration on the racer's face. It always seems like he's looking four corners ahead, with intense focus. Even on this relatively sedate lap, Rörhl never looks like he's taking it anything less than seriously. There's a lot to learn here.

As is his wont, Rörhl times himself around the lap. His watch shows a run from bridge to gantry of around 7:20, which he estimates would translate to an 8:00 lap of the circuit. Well over a minute off Porsche's official lap set last year, but hardly slow either. At the end of the video Rörhl says it's his first time back on the Ring in a few years, and he didn't have the same "fire" on this occasion that he did last time. Still, he's satisfied.

Rörhl was actually the first person to go under eight minutes around the Nordschleife in a road car, which he did in a 996-generation 911 GT3. He also once beat Michael Schumacher in an ad-hoc race around the track. It's easy to see why he doesn't feel the need to prove himself on this occasion.
