WATCH URI coach Archie Miller talk about the passing of legendary Indiana coach Bobby Knight

URI coach Archie Miller is ready for the games to begin.

URI coach Archie Miller, who coached at Indiana from 2017 to 2021, spoke Wednesday night about the passing of legendary coach Bobby Knight.

"He and his family – Pat, his son – were so generous to me upon coming to Bloomington. It’s not very often that anyone got any positive feedback from him when a coach came in. He gave me an opportunity to get off to a good start there. The family was really good to me. It’s sad because I think he was such a brilliant coach and also a brilliant person. As time has moved on here he sort of started to deteriorate in the last couple years," Miller said.

Knight died in Bloomington, according to a post on bobknight.com, a website that represents Knight and his foundation. The school later confirmed Knight's death, announcing his passing ahead of IU women's exhibition game Wednesday at Assembly Hall. He was 83.

"In my opinion, there’s not four or five coaches in the game of basketball, period, who were as good as him. In my time there I was treated very well by the Knight family. Thoughts and prayers go out to them," Miller said.
