What to Watch Sunday: New Sinead O’Connor documentary premieres

Here’s what’s on TV tonight.

Interview with the Vampire (10 p.m., AMC)

AMC premieres this contemporary adaptation of Anne Rice’s popular gothic romance novel about (what else) vampires. It stars Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Bailey Bass and Eric Bogosian.

Nothing Compares (10 p.m., Showtime)

Showtime debuts a new documentary, directed by Kathryn Ferguson, about the life and career of singer Sinead O’Connor. “Nothing Compares” follows O’Connor’s “rise to worldwide fame and examines how she used her voice at the height of her stardom before her iconoclastic personality led to her exile from the pop mainstream. Focusing on Sinéad’s prophetic words and deeds from 1987 to 1993, the film presents an authored, richly cinematic portrait of this fearless trailblazer through a contemporary feminist lens.”

The documentary features clips from music videos, concert performances and previously unseen footage, in addition to a new interview with O’Connor, in which she reflects on the events of her life. Insights from other artists and musicians are also included. Curiously, Prince’s estate would not allow the song “Nothing Compares 2 You” to be used in the doc.

The Murdochs: Empire of Influence (10 p.m., CNN)

Tonight we get Part 3 of the new seven-part CNN original documentary series about Rupert Murdoch’s media dynasty. The series is based on Jonathan Mahler and Jim Rutenberg’s New York Times Magazine article “How Rupert Murdoch’s Empire of Influence Remade the World.” It features exclusive reporting from The New York Times, interviews with people who worked inside the Murdoch companies, and decades of rich archival footage. Mahler and Rutenberg serve as consulting producers for the series.

In tonight’s installment, Murdoch’s children get a taste of the family business, beginning a decades-long competition to take over a company that is upending the status quo in American broadcasting (it’sa a real-life “Succession”).

How to stream: The series will stream live for pay TV subscribers via CNN.com and CNN OTT and mobile apps under “TV Channels” or CNNgo where available. It will also be available On Demand the day after the broadcast premiere to pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN apps, and Cable Operator Platforms.
