Watch Eddie Hall Get Wrecked by the NFL CombineYouTube

Eddie Hall has gone through a couple of pivots since he won the World's Strongest Man title in 2016, launching his own YouTube channel where he documents a series of fitness challenges with other influencers, and retraining as a boxer—a process which involved transforming his huge strongman frame into the lean, agile physique of a fast-footed fighter in anticipation of his grudge match with Thor Bjornsson.

In his most recent video, Hall sets his sights on a challenge that brings his famous brute strength and power together with speed and mobility, by taking on the NFL Combine, a sequence of exhausting drills designed to demonstrate an athlete's prowess to scouts and recruiters. Hall is joined by former pro players Christian Scotland-Williamson and Jack Crawford at Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London, the UK home of the NFL, and they coach him through each separate event.

"I can't catch, I can't throw, I can't run," says Hall, "but I'm probably good at mowing people down."

After squeezing into some protective gear, he starts out with a 5-10-5 shuttle drill. Acknowledging that running is probably his weakest spot, Hall is pleasantly surprised by his own performance, narrowing his time down to 5.15 seconds, although he admits that he's immediately feeling the impact. "Being a big guy, obviously all NFL players are big guys or most of them, it's hard on the joints," he says.

The shuttle run is followed by a 40-yard dash and a broad jump, before Hall finally finds something in his wheelhouse: the bench press. He performs 44 reps at 220 pounds, a highly impressive max, although just shy of the Combine record of 49.

His two coaches point out, however, that no matter how well he tests in the Combine, Hall's skills need to be put to use on the field to really gage how much he has learned, and so they challenge him to kick a 30-yard field goal and then to score a touchdown. kicks a 30-yard field goal. After successfully achieving both, a breathless Hall remarks: "It looks easier on TV."
