Scott Frost and the Nebraska Cornhuskers earned a much-needed victory over Fordham on Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska began the season in awful fashion in a crushing loss to Illinois last Saturday. Frost even said it was like he was watching the “same old movie” because of all the Huskers’ mistakes. It goes without saying they needed to beat Fordham on Saturday. They did.

Nebraska struggled to get going against the Rams on Saturday, but the offense got into sync in the second quarter and couldn’t be stopped from there on out. Quarterback Adrian Martinez finished with 254 yards and a score, Markese Stepp had 101 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries and the Huskers offense dropped 52 points on the Rams. It was a much-needed win for Nebraska, but more importantly Frost, who is without a doubt on the hot seat.

It was easy to tell how much Nebraska’s win on Saturday meant to Frost and his family. He shared a memorable moment with his wife and son following the win.

Scott Frost has been put through the wringer this past week. He deserved a statement win on Saturday.

Moving forward, Nebraska’s schedule will only get tougher. The Huskers do get another break next week when they play Buffalo, but they then have to take on the Oklahoma Sooners a week later. If Nebraska can at least start the year at 2-2, that’d be considered a pretty big win.

Frost and the Huskers are going to enjoy their big-time victory over Fordham on Saturday before getting back to work next week.
