What to Watch Saturday: Lifetime movie tracks Jodi Arias ‘Behind Bars’

LIFETIME

Here’s what’s on TV tonight.

Bad Behind Bars: Jodi Arias (8 p.m., Lifetime)

This new movie is based on the infamous Jodi Arias, convicted in 2013 of murdering her boyfriend, Travis Alexander. But the movie — a companion piece of sorts to Lifetime’s 2013 movie “Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret” — focuses on the havoc Arias wreaked after entering prison, where she befriended and manipulated other inmates into doing her bidding. When one woman wised up and tried to break ties with her Svengali, Arias’ vengeful side emerged. Celinda Sinden plays Arias.

48 HOURS: The Daughters Who Disappeared (10 p.m., CBS)

Tonight’s broadcast marks the 35th anniversary of this CBS news program. The episode follows correspondent Erin Moriarty as she revisits the case of a missing 12-year-old girl from Friendswood, Texas — a case Moriarty has been following since the girl went missing in 1997. Finally, there is a conclusion to the mystery.

From CBS: “What no one knew when Laura Smither first went missing in 1997 was that she had been the victim of a serial killer. William Reece would go on to murder three young women that same year before he was eventually identified by DNA.” This will also stream on Paramount+.

Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m., NBC)

SNL returns this week with Aubrey Plaza (“Parks & Recreation,” “White Lotus”) hosting and Sam Smith performing. This will be an excellent time for Chloe Fineman to resurrect her excellent Jennifer Coolidge impression.
