Watch Nicki Minaj Livestream While Police Detain Her for Allegedly 'Carrying Drugs'

Minaj attends the 2024 Met Gala on May 6, 2024, in New York City.

Nicki Minaj captured the moment on video when an officer in Amsterdam informed her that she was under arrest.

The rapper was en route to Manchester, England, to perform a show on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour on Saturday, May 25, when the incident occurred. Her travel was interrupted when police said they needed to inspect her luggage. They later found marijuana, Minaj told fans on social media, though she said it belonged to someone on her security team.

In a video Minaj, 41, shared on Instagram, the “Pound the Alarm” rapper was heard asking a man in a gray suit about a luggage-related delay.

“The police officer told me we have to offload all the luggage and to search everything with your luggage,” the man told her. “I’m so sorry to say that.”

When Minaj asked why her luggage hadn’t been searched before it was placed on the plane, he told her there had been an initial “quick check” of her bags and that officers then wanted to search them more.

In a different interaction that Minaj livestreamed, the “Anaconda” rapper was heard asking where they wanted her to go. A clip from her livestream was later shared by fans on X, formerly Twitter.

“You have to go to the police station,” an officer told her. When she asked for more information, the officer told her, “You are under arrest.”

“Oh, so I’m under arrest?” she asked.

The officer nodded and told her, “Yes.”

A spokesperson for the Netherlands police later told NBC News that officers had "arrested a 41-year-old American woman at Schiphol Airport because of possession of soft drugs” when asked if Minaj was in their custody.

In addition to the videos that Minaj shared, the “Super Bass” singer posted several tweets detailing the incident as it unraveled. In some tweets, she worried about how the delays would impact her concert at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, while in others she alleged that the incident was part of an effort to “sabotage” her tour.

“They’ve been trying everything they possibly can to TRY to stop this tour,” she wrote in one.

“I never gave them my bags. They’re refusing to let me see my own bags,” she wrote in another, adding later, “This is how they plant things in your luggage.”

In one tweet about the officers’ marijuana discovery, Minaj wrote, “now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls. Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yea & the pilot wants me to take my ig post down.”

Minaj later learned that the officials who needed to weigh the pre-rolls “ain’t here” and alleged on X, “it’s to try to make me late so that they can write negative stories. Jealousy is a disease. You know the rest.”
