Law enforcement and elected officials in Perry, Iowa, are expected to hold a news briefing at 3 p.m. Central on Thursday to provide more updates following a shooting at Perry High School. Watch live here.

Officials told the Associated Press earlier on Thursday that the suspect in the shooting died of what they believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Multiple people were injured in the shooting, which took place about 20 minutes before classes were scheduled to start. Officials have not said how many people were injured, but hospitals in neighboring Polk County have confirmed they are treating multiple victims.
