Watch Lando Norris Break Max Verstappen's $45,000 F1 Trophy

Formula 1 drivers Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Sergio Perez took to the podium following the end of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix to receive trophies and celebrate their finishes with a traditional spraying of champagne. Things took a turn after Norris accidentally knocked over Verstappen's trophy, causing it to break apart.

The McLaren F1 team published a video showing Norris slamming his champagne bottle onto the podium where Verstappen's trophy was sitting, causing it to pop up and tip onto the floor. Norris immediately realizes what happened, and winces to the crowd as champagne shoots from his bottle.

“Max just placed it too close to the edge,” Norris said in a post-race interview, according to Motorsport.com. “It fell over, I guess. Not my problem. It’s his!”

The trophy wasn't cheap. According to Hungarian F1 journalist Sándor Mészáros, it was handmade over six months by Herendi Porcelanmanufaktura Zrt, and cost just under $45,000. Let's hope it can be repaired, as making a replacement will be far more expensive and time-consuming.
