How to watch Kansas State’s basketball game at Cal even though it’s on Pac-12 Network

Good luck finding Kansas State’s next basketball game when you pull up your channel guide at 6 p.m. on Friday to try to watch the Wildcats embark on their first road test of the season against California.

The game is available exclusively on Pac-12 Network, which means you won’t be able to access it on DirecTV, Hulu, YouTubeTV or most of the traditional cable providers in the Sunflower State.

Pac-12 Network is only available on the following TV services, according to its website: Spectrum, Xfinity, Cox, Dish Network, Sling, FrontierTV, FuboTV and Vidgo.

Watching this game won’t be easy for many within the K-State fan base ... or within the Pac-12 footprint if we’re being brutally honest. But never fear, there is one easy (and free) way to view every second of basketball action that transpires while the Wildcats are on the West Coast.

FuboTV and Sling both offer free trials that allow new subscribers to test their product for seven days and then cancel free of charge.

After a vigorous discussion of possible streaming options at our weekly sports meeting, FuboTV was strongly recommended to me as the best solution. So I gave it a try on Thursday afternoon. Sure enough, after signing up for a trial account I was watching a classic football game between Southern Cal and Oregon State on Pac-12 Network.

The process is equally simple if you choose to go through Sling.

So there you have it. You don’t have to cozy up next to a radio and listen to the K-State-Cal game like our parents had to do 25 years ago. You can stream the game without jumping through too many hoops.

Just remember to cancel your subscription after the game, unless you fall in love with the FuboTV. A monthly charge for the most basic programming option is $59.99 a month.

One more thing: Die-hard fans will need to do this a few times this season. K-State will play in the Cayman Island Classic college basketball tournament later this month, and you can only watch those games if you own a subscription to FloHoops.
