As the world braces for the release of The Hunger Games prequel on November 17, fans are scrambling to revisit the original movie series based on the books by Suzanne Collins. Unfortunately, in the years since the last film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, was released in theaters, finding the movies to watch at home has been a challenge Katniss herself might have trouble overcoming. One day, the series is part of the sci-fi movies on Netflix catalog, the next day, they've disappeared. It can be hard to watch the Hunger Games movies if you don't know where to look. Technically, the new prequel spinoff, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, should come first on the list, assuming you want to watch the films in the plot's chronological order. The film, which tells the origin story of President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland in the original series), takes place 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteers as Tribute in The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games (2012)
In the dystopian world of Panem, President Snow hosts the Hunger Games every year, where two children from 12 Districts are selected to fight to the death. In the first film in the series, the audience is introduced to Katniss Everdeen, aka the Girl on Fire, who volunteers to compete in The Hunger Games to save her sister and sparks a revolution. The film helped launch the careers of Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Amandla Stenberg.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
The second film continued Katniss' fight to survive as she and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) are called back for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, all while the seeds of rebellion grow in Panem. This film introduced fan favorite characters Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone).
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014)
The third book in Collins' original trilogy was split up into two films, with Mockingjay Part 1 following Katniss as she adjusts to her new life as a symbol of the revolution in the mysterious District 13.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (2015)
The fourth and final film in the original Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 2, featured the final showdown between Katniss and President Snow.
