Watch the ‘Godfather of Funk’ play Funkytown and help celebrate his 81st birthday

Funkytown will get even funkier when iconic musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer George Clinton comes to Fort Worth.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic will play at Wild Acre Live on Friday, July 22 as part of his One Nation Under a Groove Tour.

The Godfather of Funk, who will be celebrating his 81st birthday on the night of this show, is renowned for his eccentric musical and fashion styles along with his improvised set lists. Clinton’s shows are more like a festival than just a typical concert.

Clinton’s shows also remain a family affair, with grandson Traf Lewis often backing him on guitar along with granddaughter and vocalist Tonysha Nelson.

Friday’s big show also includes The Motet with special guests Ft. Shira Elias plus Josh Schwartz and Chris Brouwers of The Horn Section, The Soul Rebels, Pimps of Joytime and Blue Eye Extinction.

General admission tickets are $56, with on-site parking available for $26. You can also pre-order a 3-beer wristband for $20. The show is scheduled to last from 6:30-11 p.m.

Food and drinks will be available, including cocktails and craft beer from Wild Acre Brewing Company. Wild Acre is located at 1734 E. El Paso St., about two miles southeast of Sundance Square.
