General Hospital has experienced many milestones and groundbreaking events. There was Luke and Laura’s wedding in 1981. Seen by 30 million fans, the show even had an appearance from Elizabeth Taylor, who played the vengeful Helena Cassadine. In 1995, they had Orphan Stone Cates battle AIDS and shed light on a subject that was not featured in soap operas.

And tonight the epic 15-time, Emmy-winning daytime drama celebrates six decades on the air with a brand-new primetime special, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling. The show will be broadcast Thursday, Jan. 4 on ABC at 10 p.m. ET.

General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling will feature a who’s who of the show’s long-running history. Stars from the soap opera, including  Maurice Benard, Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Finola Hughes, Kelly Monaco and Laura Wright will raise the curtain on Port Charles.

Also, expect to see bloopers, behind-the-scenes key moments and some very special surprises from the show’s six decades on television with over 15,000 episodes.
