Here’s what’s on TV tonight.

20/20: Kristin Smart: Never Made It Home (9 p.m., ABC)

Correspondent Matt Gutman reports on the disappearance and murder of Kristin Smart, a Cal Poly University student who disappeared after leaving a fraternity party in 1996 and was never found. Investigators long believed that fellow college student Paul Flores was connected to her disappearance, but struggled for decades to make a case.

Flores was finally convicted of murder in March.

The episode will explore exactly how police caught Flores “using cutting-edge investigative techniques and groundbreaking forensic research.” We also get interviews with friends and family of Smart, plus key investigators and others close to the case. The program also includes “interrogation and deposition tapes of the suspect, ABC News’ archival footage of the 1996 disappearance, and comments from the jurors” from the recent trial.

How to stream: This is available to stream the next day on Hulu.

Dateline: Behind the Closet Door 9 p.m., NBC

Tonight, Josh Mankiewicz interviews Kevin Cincotta about the murder of his mother, Andrea Cincotta, who was found strangled to death on the floor of her bedroom closet in Arlington, Virginia, on Aug. 22, 1998.

Kevin Cincotta worked for more than 20 years trying to find justice for his mother, and a resolution to the case happened this past November.

In addition to interviews with Kevin Cincotta, Mankiewicz interviews Kevin’s father, Howard Cincotta, along with investigators, attorneys and a member of the jury.
