3-pointers: The 56th meeting between the Florida State Seminoles (10-3, 1-0) and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-8) takes place on New Year’s Eve afternoon with a Noon tip-off at the Tucker Center. FSU leads the overall series 35-20 and has won four of the past six matchups...Florida State looks to once again finish ahead of its ACC preseason predicted order of finish, as it was selected fifth by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel. Wake Forest was selected 14th. In Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff’s previous two seasons as head coach, the Seminoles finished fourth in the ACC in 2020-21 (predicted eighth) and tied for fourth in the 2022-23 season (predicted ninth)...Sophomore guard Ta’Niya Latson delivered another epic performance in FSU’s ACC-opening win over Georgia Tech on Friday (95-80). Per Her Hoop Stats, Latson is the first ACC player since at least 2009-10 (dating back to their records) to record a single game that included 30+ points, 5+ assists, 2+ blocks and one or fewer turnovers.

What FSU needs to do to win: After shooting 8-of-19 on Friday against the Yellow Jackets, FSU now leads the ACC in 3-point field goal percentage at 36.7 percent (109-of-297). The Noles rank third in the conference averaging 22.8 3-point field goal attempts per game...Junior forward Makayla Timpson has six double-doubles this season and 19 for her career, tying for 10th all-time at FSU...Even though the Seminoles average about 77 possessions per game, they lead the ACC in fewest turnovers per game at 11.2. It’s the seventh-lowest average in the nation. FSU is coming off just a seven-turnover game in its ACC season opener vs. Georgia Tech...The Noles will be playing on New Year’s Eve for the 10th time, owning a 6-3 record on Dec. 31. FSU has won four straight on the last day of the calendar year. In the 2023 calendar year, FSU owns a 20-11 overall record...FSU continues to be at its strongest in the fourth quarter. Over its last nine games, the Noles have averaged 23.2 points in the final period.
