Elizabeth Zott's fictional Supper at Six show will be real. Kind of. The bestselling book Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus is coming to your television this fall starring Brie Larson as Zott.
Here's everything we know about the Apple TV+ adaptation of Lessons in Chemistry.
It's based on Garmus's novel.
The story follows chemist Elizabeth Zott, who works at Hastings Research Institute. She falls for fellow scientist Calvin Evans, but when she finds herself a single mother, she has to leave the Institute. So, she becomes a reluctant daytime TV host of Supper at Six, a cooking show where she applies chemistry to the kitchen, and ends with the line, "Children, set the table. Your mother needs a moment to herself..."
Lessons in Chemistry is Garmus's debut novel, at age 65. "I feel great about having reached this goal now, at this age. It just proves that age doesn’t matter," she said in an interview. "I mean, I feel the same way I did at 30 but you do get one big gift: the ability to look at your characters with a little more empathy because you have been through some of their struggles."
Brie Larson leads the cast.
Brie will star as scientist-turned-TV-show-host Elizabeth Zott. She's joined by:
Lewis Pullman as Calvin Evans
Aja Naomi King as Harriet Slone
Stephanie Koenig as Fran Frask
Patrick Walker as Wakely
Ashley Monique Clark as Martha Wakeley
Thomas Mann as Boryweitz
Kevin Sussman as Walter
Beau Bridges as Wilson
