While HBO fans may have bemoaned the strange branding change that the app formerly known as HBO Max underwent when it became just MAX and merged with Discovery's content, fans of HBO Max's original content (Hacks, Rap Sh!t, and Close Enough to name a few) worried not just about a name change, but the future of their streaming-first favorites.

Not every show survived the shift. Dramedy Minx got the boot, as did the reality dating show FBoy Island. But thankfully, both series were narrowly saved from the tomb of shows canceled far too soon. While Starz saved Minx (the show is now pushing toward its third season), a somewhat surprising network saved FBoy Island: The CW.

Best known as a home for teen dramas and DC superhero shows, The CW recently underwent an ownership change and announced that it will shift its focus from younger viewers to a broader audience, as The Hollywood Reporter found. While that's a major loss in broadcast programming for teens and young adults, it offers an opportunity for older demographics, who notably tune in each week for shows like The Bachelor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race. Reality and competition shows can garner a strong audience if successful.

FBoy Island is an exciting new venture for The CW, and hopefully it pays off. In case you're a newcomer to the series, the show follows three women, all wooed by a group of men. The major twist is that half of the men are "FBoys" who struggle with commitment and prefer to use women for their own benefit. On the other hand, the other half of the group are "Nice Guys" who are actually looking for love. The women have to date and investigate to either find the right guy or convince an FBoy to change his ways. And as if they needed a bigger incentive, there's money on the line; if an "FBoy" gets away with his grift, he can pocket all the cash and leave a woman with a broken heart (and an empty wallet).

Whether you're coming from Max (formerly known as HBO Max), or are tuning in for the first time, here's how to watch FBoy Island.

While previous seasons only required HBO Max subscribers to navigate through the app to find the show at any time, The CW migration may feel a bit more complex.

If you own a cable subscription, tuning in is no problem. FBoy Island starts on October 16 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, and you can turn to the channel at that time and watch.

If you're a cord cutter, however, you've got three viable options.

Watching live will require you to subscribe to another live service, such as YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV.

You can also watch episodes after they air on The CW app. While it isn't live, you can view the show without paying (yes, it's FREE) and just tell your friends not to spoil anything in the meantime.
