The Denver Broncos enter Week 8 of the NFL season fresh off a win against the Green Bay Packers.

Their second win of the season featured a go-ahead kick from Wil Lutz with 3:50 left in the game. Safety P.J. Locke, in for the ejected Kareem Jackson, notched his first career interception off a deep pass by Jordan Love in the waning minutes to secure the win.

"I saw the ball in the air, I was like, ‘It’s mine,'" Locke said after the win.

Sean Payton was measured after snagging his first home victory as Broncos coach.

“We're never happy. You know, we work hard, we want it," he said.

This win snapped Denver's stretch of 10 consecutive games in which they led at halftime and lost, an NFL record. The Broncos (2-5) have the same record after seven games as they did in 2022.

Sunday marks the Broncos' second matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in 17 days after losing 19-8 on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. It marked Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' 11th consecutive win against Denver. One more victory and he becomes the first quarterback in NFL history to win 12 straight games against the same opponent. The Broncos haven't beaten Kansas City since Week 2 of their Super Bowl-winning 2015 season.

To their credit, the Broncos' defense has improved over the last two weeks and opposing coaches are taking notice.

“They’re playing good football,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “They know how to maneuver. They've done a good job.”
