Get your tissues ready.

Brendan Fraser gave one of the most emotional speeches of his career as he accepted Best Actor at the 2023 Academy Awards on March 12. Brendan won for his role in The Whale, which has received critical acclaim across the board since its release.

After Halle Berry announced Brendan as the winner, he looked absolutely shocked as he got up to give his girlfriend, Jeanne Moore, a kiss, and make his way to the stage. Once he got there, he was understandably emotional he gave his speech.

So this what the multiverse looks like. My goodness. I thank the Academy for this honor, and our studio A-24 for making such a bold film. And I'm grateful to Darren Aronofsky for throwing me a creative lifeline, and hauling me aboard the good ship The Whale. It was written by Samuel D. Hunter who is our lighthouse.

Gentlemen, you laid your whale-sized hearts bare, so we could see into your souls like no one else could do, and it is my honor to be named alongside you in this category.

I want to tell you that only whales can swim at the depth of the talent of Hong Chau. And I started in this business 30 years ago, and things didn't come easy to me, but there was a facility that I didn't appreciate at the time until it stopped. And, I just want to say, thank you for this acknowledgement because it couldn't be done my cast — it's been like I've been in a diving expedition at the bottom of the ocean, and the air on the line to the surface is on a launch being watched over by some people in my life, like my sons, Holden and Leland and Griffin. I love you, Griffy. My manager JoAnne Colonna , Jennifer Plant, and my best first mate Jeannie. Thank you again, each one and all. I'm so grateful to you. Goodnight.

The audience was visibly moved by his words, but so were viewers watching at home. The YouTube comments speak for themselves. "This is probably one of the only Oscar wins in recent memory that kinda teared me up. Brendan Fraser deserves the Oscar and I’m glad he’s coming back," one person wrote. "I usually don't care for Oscars, but this, this does put a tear in my eye. Thank you for being a good man all this time Brendan. You deserve the best," said another. "I don't care about awards, but today my heart is full watching him succeed," someone else wrote.
