Surprising absolutely no one, the new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS has set another absolutely blistering sub-seven-minute lap time on the Nürburgring.

The 6:54.99 time was not set by Porsche itself, nor was the lap sanctioned by the Nürburgring during an official timed run. Rather, the car was run by German publication Sport Auto and its own driver, Christian Gebhardt.

Gebhardt was able to wheel the new 992 around the Nordschleife roughly 1.5 seconds quicker than the old GT3 RS, with Porsche's own driver behind the wheel. But the time is still a ways off Porsche's own factory effort, which was able to squeeze an incredible 6:44 lap out of the car last year.

It's important to note this time was set using the Nürburgring's old standard of timing, which bypasses part of the start/finish straightaway, with different locations for the start and finish lines. Had Sport Auto run in the new start/finish configuration, the time would've likely been a couple of seconds slower.

Still, anything under the seven-minute line is exceptionally quick. For some context, this lap beats out cars like the Dodge Viper ACR, Porsche 918 Spyder, and Lamborghini Aventador SV.
